Our Studio Wins Design Pitch for Riverside Cultural Center
We are thrilled to announce that A Kind of Space has been selected as the winning team in the competitive pitch for the new Riverside Cultural Center. Chosen from a field of internationally renowned firms, our proposal stood out for its sensitive integration into the natural landscape and its forward-thinking approach to community engagement.
The design centers around a series of interconnected pavilions that open toward the riverfront, creating a flexible framework for exhibitions, performances, and educational programs. A sculptural timber canopy weaves the buildings together, providing both shade and a unified architectural identity.
“We envisioned a place that feels welcoming at every hour of the day—an open invitation for people to gather, explore, and celebrate creativity,” says Lead Architect Mira Langen.
The project now moves into the concept development phase, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2026. We look forward to collaborating closely with the city, local artists, and community partners as the vision takes shape.
